Approach

A story you can feel.

A woman with curly hair holding a sleeping baby close to her chest, smiling warmly.
A bride and groom walking together outside, surrounded by friends celebrating. The bride holds a bouquet and is smiling as she walks, while the groom is dressed in a white jacket. Guests are throwing flower petals.

AVERY ELLIOT PHOTO

I see photography the way a quilter sees fabric — every image a patch in a larger story, stitched together by hand and heart. My work is built from small, intentional moments: the way light drifts across a table, the quiet gesture between two people, the beauty tucked inside imperfection. These bits and pieces come together to form something honest, textured, and whole — a story you can feel.

Restaging photos has never been my thing. I’ve watched moments lose their spark in the process of being redone. I’m drawn instead to the in-betweens — the crooked boutonniere, the belly laugh, the tear that falls before anyone’s ready. That’s where the truth lives. I’m not chasing perfect; I’m chasing real. My work moves slower, guided by patience, and care. Every story has its own rhythm, and I do my best to listen.

The best photographs happen when you stop performing and start simply being. A lot of my “prompts” when I give them focus on movement, sometimes I won’t give any at all… When you let go of what you think an image should look like and just live in the moment — barefoot, messy, full of light. I want our time together to feel like that: easy, joyful, unforced. You’ve already done the planning and when the day comes, you get to breathe it all in.

I see each photograph I take as a thread — woven with memory, place, and the people who make it matter. Together they become something lasting, something that feels handmade.

Your story deserves to be told in a way that’s genuine, grounded, and beautifully original — stitched from all the imperfect, ordinary moments that make it one of a kind.

The Process

1. Begin the Conversation

Start by filling out the inquiry form — think of it as the first few stitches in your story. Share the things that matter: your people, your vision, the feeling you want your photos to hold.

II. Connect and Dream

After I’ve read through your form, we’ll find time to connect — maybe over a call, or coffee if you’re nearby. This is where we get to know each other beyond emails, swap stories, and talk through your hopes for your day. I want to hear about the little things and all your hopes and dreams for our collaboration.

III. Seal the Story

When it feels right and we both know it’s a good fit, we’ll make things official with a signed contract and a retainer to hold your date. From there, we begin to dream — planning, trading ideas, and creating space for your day to unfold as it’s meant to!

FAQs

  • For most projects, 2-3 weeks is normative, weddings, 6-8 weeks but may be closer to 8 weeks in a busier season (summer-fall). Film photos may take a bit longer to scan and process.

  • For weddings, you can expect sneak peaks within 24-72 hours! Sneak peaks tend to be photos that capture the heart of your wedding so that you can share your favorite moments with family and Instagram as soon as possible.

Due to time restraints, sneak peaks are not available for other projects.

  • Regardless of where you are I always create a custom travel quote because of how different each event, location, time of year, needs, and overall circumstances are. The custom travel fee will cover flight, stay, and transportation!

  • Amazing! Your first step would be to fill out the contact form found here! Within a few hours, I will reach out and we can discuss the logistics of your project. Once that’s done, the final step will be signing your contract — that’s what officially locks in your date with me!
